Preliminary data show the number of births falling by 8.3 percent in September compared with the same month of the previous year, while deaths declined by 12 percent, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.

Fully 6,172 children were born in September and 8,758 people died, while the natural decrease in the population was 2,586 people, compared with 3,257 in September 2024, the KSH said.

Altogether 6,313 couples tied the knot in September, up 17 percent compared with the same month the previous year.

Fully 54,305 children were born in Jan-Sept, 6.8 percent fewer than in the same period of the previous year, while 92,210 people died, 1.9 percent fewer than a year earlier.

The natural decrease in the population was 37,905 people, up 6.1 percent on the previous year.

In Jan-Sept, 37,288 couples got married, down 2.4 percent year on year.
