Government-close media increasingly portray Germany as Hungary’s new political enemy
In recent months, several pro-government Hungarian media outlets and commentators have begun to depict Germany not as a key European partner, but as a hostile political force working against Hungary’s interests. Through intelligence-based claims, energy disputes and increasingly sharp rhetoric, Berlin is being framed as an external actor interfering in domestic politics and aligning with Kyiv to pressure Budapest.
Articles published by government-close platforms such as Mandiner and Index suggest that German intermediaries played a role in informing the opposition Tisza Party about Ukraine’s alleged decision not to restart oil deliveries through the Druzhba pipeline. According to these reports, the party’s leader Péter Magyar signalled openness to ending Hungary’s reliance on cheap Russian energy if elected, which is a move government narratives present as economically harmful.
Both outlets rely heavily on references to intelligence briefings prepared for the Hungarian government. These accounts imply that Ukraine’s decisions were politically motivated and that Germany acted as a go-between. The underlying message is that Berlin is portrayed not as a neutral EU partner, but as facilitating moves that could weaken Hungary’s energy security.
From partner to adversary
The tone has become even more confrontational in opinion pieces and commentary. Mária Schmidt, a prominent conservative historian and government ally, recently declared on social media that “the Germans have declared war on Russia”, suggesting that Berlin is dragging Europe into a dangerous confrontation. In a longer essay titled Deutschland, Deutschland unter Alles, she paints modern Germany as arrogant, morally hypocritical and historically untrustworthy.
In other words don’t pay attention to the Hungarian economy, high prices, crumbling public services and declining standard of living. Instead we want you to pay attention to all of these external bogeymen. If you paid too much attention to domestic problems gosh darn it you wouldn’t like the Fidesz government.

Yes, Dear Larry, it’s a difficult election for Hungarian Voters.
So many feel so tired of Fidesz governance of their country, and yet : they are perfectly well aware what a Magyar Peter Government will do to Hungary.
As we say in The South : they, The Hungarian Voters, are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

There’s nothing more to say. This statement describes the situation perfectly. It shouldn’t be overinterpreted, as it’s a known tactic in Hungary.

Confirmation of this comes in from the battlefield every day, just as more confirmation will come from Hungarian polls, on April 13.
Germany is so obviously a threat to all non German Europeans. All the key positions in EU are filled with hungary and Russian hating people. Families providing Germsn leaders have ties to Hitlers regime. Germany is itching for war with Russia but want rest of Europe to help them. EU is set up to give Germany all the advantages. Germany is now pressurising France to give it access to French nuclear weapons. Germany is not Hungarys friend!
Some people seem to equate political debate with war, speaking of war and enemies instead of political opponents and political discourse. I refuse to stoop to that level, because then these hateful, warmongering people would have achieved their goal.
Language is neither neutral nor objective. Through our choice of words, we reproduce specific conventions, norms, and images. In doing so, we reinforce a seemingly objective view of the world. Language doesn’t simply reflect reality; it contributes to its creation.
That’s why I refuse to engage in such discussions.

Germany certainly is not Hungary’s enemy, but, the German Political Establishment, which serves the interest of The International Bankers and Corporations, is.

You equate political debate with war and annihilation, speaking only of struggle and enemies around you instead of political opponents, political discourse, and political problem-solving. I refuse to stoop to this barbaric, archaic, and uncivilized level, because by doing so you would have achieved your goal of publicly portraying your misanthropic views as perfectly normal, which of course they are not, and which only reveal your inner turmoil and inner conflict.
Language is neither neutral nor objective. Through our word choices, we reproduce certain conventions, norms, and images, reinforcing a seemingly objective worldview. Language doesn’t simply reflect reality; it contributes to shaping it, regardless of whether it’s reality itself or a pathological or narcissistic need.
Find someone else who wants to and/or can help you alleviate your emotional pain, give an outlet for your bottomless hatred, and validate your unempathetic worldview. I’m not prepared to give you a public forum for this.
