Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will open a base in Catania, on Sicily’s east coast, in October, the company told MTI on Tuesday.
Wizz Air said it will put two Airbus A321 aircraft into service at the airport of the Italian city, from where it was already flying to 15 destinations. With the opening of its new base the airline will expand its list of destinations to include Rome, Bologna, Venice, Memmingen, in Bavaria, Germany, and London Luton Airport.
From this October, you’ll be able to fly to a total of 20 destinations from Catania. Wizz Air is adding new routes from Milan to Bari and between Liverpool, Chisinau and Cluj-Napoca to Wizz Air’s ever expanding network.
The first Wizz Air flight from Catania took off in 2009, with the airline having transported more than 1.5 million passengers to and from the Sicilian city since then.
