Three Hungarians featured on Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Europe” list

American business magazine Forbes has collected the most talented Europeans under the age of 30 this year as well. The Hungarian Forbes reports that this is the first time that a Hungarian politician is featured on the list.

The “30 Under 30 Europe” list has been compiled for 30 years now by Forbes. Hungarians have been featured on the list on several occasions, so it is this years as well. You will find Katinka Hosszú among many others like football player Paul Pogba, who was bought by Manchester United for 100 million euros, or Formula 1 pilot Max Verstappen, or actress Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark in the famous TV series Game of Thrones.

The Hungarian editorial room of Forbes puts together the list of the most valuable and talented Hungarian sportsmen and women for three years now. All three times Katinka Hosszú ranked first.

The American editorial room selects 30 young people each category, based on their achievements. Katinka is featured in the entertainment category, where sportsmen and women, TV personalities and actors compete. It is mentioned that the ‘Iron Lady’ is a three-time Olympic medallist, seven-times world champion, and thirteen-times European champion. Aside from this, the editors draw attention to the fact that she has a webshop with her husband and coach, and also that they manage their own swimming association.

The 24-year-old supermodel Barbara Palvin is on the list too, in the entertainment category. According to Forbes, she is the 17^th best-paid model in the world.

She walked the runway in Milan at a Prada show when she was just 17, and two years after this event, she got her Victoria’s Secret wings.

The surprise…

The Hungarian editors of Forbes find it surprising that the chairman of Momentum, András Fekete-Győr is featured in the ‘public life’ category.

Momentum started off as a movement that wanted to initiate a referendum on the Budapest Olympic Games, and since then it became a political party. Back then, Movement managed to collect the necessary number of signatures as to stop the Olympic Games from being organised in Budapest, so the government parties that funded the tender walked away from the project.

Hungarians featured in previous years

There is no Hungarian featured in the technological category. However, István Lám’s name, who is the founder of Tresorit and Kinga Jentetics’s, CEO of PublishDrive, could be found some years ago. Vivien Lászlóffy, the manager of ÁERON fashion brand, appeared on the list too, and in the artist category Zsófia Schwéger as well. In the science category Judit Szulágyi represented Hungary and in the media category András S. Takács and Eszter Cseke, the creators of On the Spot.

The “30 Under 30 Europe” list is put together by the American editorial room, and while the Hungarian editorial room made suggestions this year too, none of those names appeared in the latest edition.
