So far, all such panopticons have been and are currently owned by the central rights holder, the British Merlin Entertainments. However, in Budapest, there will be Hungarian owners who pay a franchise fee for the use of the right, reports Telex. Therefore, Budapest counts as the first Madame Tussauds franchise location. In Acton, West London, in the only functioning figure manufactory, 50 “handmade” dolls are being made for Budapest. The Hungarian operating company is Dorottya Experience Kft.
International superstars and world-famous Hungarians
In addition to international superstars, visitors can admire the wax figures of world-famous Hungarians. The wax figures displayed in museums around the world are very expensive, they cost about EUR 250,000 (HUF 101 million) each, writes Pénzcentrum. The wax figures are not only expensive, but also time-consuming to create. Making a single wax figure takes about 350 hours. In the London studio, 4 artists work on one piece for months. However, is has not been revealed yet which stars will have a wax figure at the exhibition.
