The big handshake of Madrid and Budapest

The Spanish Iberia airline has launched its first Madrid-Budapest flight, the Ambassador of Hungary to Spain welcomed the 95 passengers of the first airplane before take-off at the airport on Tuesday morning, mno.hu said.

The new flight operates between the two capitals from June 2 to the end of October, seven times a week. They don’t fly on Monday and Friday, but two flights start on Tuesday and Thursday.

On the first flight, mainly Spanish tourists traveled, but there was some who visited his/her daughter working in Budapest, and a teacher group participating in the Erasmus program also traveled in the plane. None of them knew that this was the first direct flight of the Spanish airline.

According to mno.hu, Eniko Gyori, Hungary’s ambassador in Madrid told MTI: the airline decided in favor of the flight start because of the increased demands, since more and more people are traveling between           the two countries. It could be done only by low cost carrier airlines since the termination of Malev in 2012, and those who wanted a more comfortable flight, it has become possible   – she added.
