Terrorist Threats To The Hungarian Olympic Committee

Budapest, January 22 (MTI) – The Hungarian Olympic Committee has received an emailed terrorist threat, the chairman of the committee, Zsolt Borkai, said today.

Without revealing the source of the email, Borkai told MTI that the committee is taking the threat seriously and has informed the International Olympic Committee, the organisers of the Sochi Olympic games, and Hungary’s Counterterrorism Centre (TEK).

Borkai added that, to his knowledge, other national Olympic committees had received similar messages.

The TEK is monitoring the level of terrorism threat concerning the upcoming games and the centre has contacted the relevant authorities in Russia, TEK communications chief Gergely Fodor told MTI.
