Another Hungarian has been killed by Russian invaders in Ukraine, FM Szijjártó talks about “senseless war”

Another Hungarian from Transcarpathia has been killed in the fighting in Ukraine, where “Hungarians are dying senselessly in a completely senseless war”, Péter Szijjártó, the foreign minister, said on Friday.

The minister said in a statement that the Mukachevo (Munkács) branch of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ) had notified the government of the 97th Hungarian victim, a 48-year-old man, whose wife and two children were “now waiting in vain for him to return home”.

The family, he said, would be contacted and they would receive “the usual support” from Hungary. “This war must be ended immediately,” he declared, calling on Brussels “not to undermine peace efforts in the future”.

“Like Hungary, Brussels and all European countries should back American peace efforts wholeheartedly and with all their might,” Szijjártó said, adding that only those efforts could lead to the end of “completely senseless deaths”.

    • The 2 historically reliable Hungarian pollsters, Dear Peter, both say that Fidesz is 5 points ahead of Tisza.

So, maybe you meant to say April of 2030 … or, perhaps, even beyond.

  1. What has Orban or Szijjarto ever done to pressure Putin to stop his war? Putin won’t stop. It’s as simple as that. The only way he will stop is when he is convinced that there is not way he can win. The only way you do that is by giving Ukraine all the support you possibly can. If you remove support and remove sanctions from Russia you embolden Putin and you give him incentive to go further. Fidesz has been working to prolong the war by undermining Ukraine and emboldening Putin.

  2. I believe the Hungarian government cannot speak Chinese, otherwise it would surely report on it in the interest of its citizens.

China has warned its citizens living in Russia about a new law that requires foreigners to serve in the Russian armed forces.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported.

The Hong Kong edition of the South China Morning Post reported on February 26 that the Chinese consulate in Russia urged Chinese citizens living in Russia to “pay attention” to a new Russian law passed in November 2025.

It requires male permanent residents between the ages of 18 and 65 to complete at least one year of service in the Russian army in order to apply for Russian citizenship or residency.

    This law provides exceptions for:

    Belarusian citizens;

    men who provide evidence that they have already met the requirement to serve in the Russian army;

men who provide documentation from Russian military draft and recruitment centers that they are unfit for military service.

Russian state media did not publicize these aspects of the decree at the time.

It is noted that the Chinese consulate did not directly warn its citizens of the dangers of serving in the Russian military, but urged them to “make careful decisions” to “ensure their legal residency status in Russia.”

According to analysts, the consulate’s warning is a sign that China may be concerned that Russia would force its citizens living in Russia to perform military service under this law.

Russia has raided migrants with expired permits or without documents and forced them into military service under threat of criminal prosecution or deportation.

Forcing foreigners to serve in the Russian army as a condition for obtaining residence permits or citizenship is a significant reinforcement of the army’s recruitment mechanisms.

ISW recently documented signs that the Kremlin is preparing to draft reservists to make up for a shortage of personnel due to a slowdown in Russian army recruitment.

“The Chinese consulate’s statement may be an additional sign that Russia is ready to draft reservists and implement other forced recruitment mechanisms that could affect its citizens living in Russia,” analysts said.

    • ‘Forcing foreigners to serve in the Russian army as a condition for obtaining residence permits or citizenship is a significant reinforcement of the army’s recruitment mechanisms.’

If one moves to another country, and is disposed to enjoy the fruits of that country, then one ought be prepared to participate in the defence of that garden.

      • 😂😂😂😂 fruits Mouton!!! 😂😂😂😂

What are the fruits of living in Russia

        such an idiot bot

  3. At least 57 universities and 13 institutions of secondary vocational education have launched a campaign to recruit students for the war against Ukraine, Echo has calculated. Public campaigning is taking place in at least 23 Russian regions and annexed Crimea. The leader in the number of educational institutions luring students to the front was President Vladimir Putin’s hometown of St. Petersburg (19). In second place is Moscow (13). Tatarstan (6), Novosibirsk Region (5) and Krasnodar Territory (4) round out the top five.

Oh dear, that certainly won’t be enough to compensate for the huge losses. In Africa, Russia is already making negative headlines, as many in the African media have complained about practices in Russia regarding “voluntary” forced recruitment. Only fools don’t understand what game is being played here.

    • Apparently most of the Africans disagree with you, and your beloved MI6 media, for Russia freed them from involuntary indentured servitude to the racket the Western Elite, run by Macron of France.

Anyone who does not understand that is being played.

      • You don’t seem to read newspapers, otherwise you wouldn’t write such nonsense. If you insist, I’ll gladly send you some links on the topic. No one can embarrass a person more than that person can embarrass themselves!

  4. Anyone who would like to understand the brutality of the Russian military should read the attached BBC article. They have descended into Stalin era tactics. I actually visited the Soviet Union in 1987 and met with dissidents in Moscow. They took me to an outdoor concert which was against the war in Afghanistan. The speeches there included one by a veteran in support of the war – so both sides could speak. People could actually freely protest the war. Not now. Hungarians need to think hard about what kind of evil regime Fidesz is allying their country with and how Fidesz is working against the Ukrainian struggle for freedom.

    • ‘Anyone who would like to understand the brutality of the Russian military should read the attached BBC article.’

#1. The point of any military is to be lethal, or, if you will, ‘brutal’.

#2. The hypocrisy of the BBC, and, in general, or the British Ruling Establishment is beyond any that has every existed.

The list one could amass is so long, Dear Larry, that I will leave you with one of the hall of fame British Ruling Elite hypocrisies : ‘German is guilty for systemically killing European Citizens in WWII, but, Britain, which relentlessly firebombed millions and millions of German women, children, and elderly is not.’

Listen to the English People, yes, but, never pay a single iota of attention to anything their Political Elite, and the press that serves them, has to say.

      • Have you forgotten? Germany bombed the civilian population in England first, and there were many civilian casualties. Only much later, in response, did the Allies retaliate, and when it became clear that the Allies had achieved air superiority, the Germans complained about it. Go ahead and keep writing your twisted nonsense; I’ll help you find the truth.

“Listen to the English People, yes, but, never pay a single iota of attention to anything their Political Elite, and the press that serves them, has to say.”

By the way, the British government is elected by the people. If that hasn’t sunk in, then let me help you out. Of course, every child in Russia knows that elections in the West are all rigged, but not in Russia, naturally.

  5. ‘Another Hungarian has been killed by Russian invaders in Ukraine, FM Szijjártó talks about “senseless war”

    The actual Reality?

Another Hungarian, forcibly conscripted against his will into military service for the demoniac International Bankers, based in Britain since Charles II, is killed by Russian Soldiers who were defending their homeland against yet another Western invasion.

Though I most certainly like Orbán Viktor, I agree with Toroczkai László that Orbán’s administration has not done nearly enough to protect Hungarians whom the aftermaths of 20th century wars left them located in country no longer their own.
