FM Szijjártó: cooperation between Slovakia, Hungary best so far

Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, has been awarded the honarary citizenship of the city of Komárom, in northern Hungary, “in recognition of his work to enrich the material and intellectual treasures of the city and of his morally exemplary work in the interest of the Hungarian nation”, the ministry said on Saturday.

After receiving the honor from Mayor Attila Molnár, Szijjártó said Komárom had become “a main venue of the Hungarian economy’s success story in the past 15 years”.

Komárom has received 18 large new investments in the past decade worth a total of 524 billion forints (EUR 1.3bn), which have created some 4,000 jobs, he said.

Szijjártó said that the experiences gathered during his youth spent in the city had served “as a compass in difficult foreign policy decisions”.
