Ski resorts kick off the season this weekend – Popular destinations in and near Hungary

The ski season has officially started both in Hungary and in its neighbouring countries. Even though Hungary has only a few skiing destinations to offer, people often opt for the pistes of Slovakia, Slovenia, or Austria.
Turizmus Online collected all the popular ski resorts in and out of Hungary that kick off the season this weekend.
Eplény
The A1 and T1 ski pistes of Eplény await early enthusiasts from 5 December. So far one chairlift is operating, the four-person chairlift.
The village of Eplény can be found in Veszprém County. People have been skiing in Eplény since the 1970s. The Intersport Síaréna Eplény is one of the most popular skiing destinations in Hungary. The Ski Arena of Eplény has two ski lifts and pistes of 7 km. Forty snow cannons make sure that visitors always have the perfect amount of snow for skiing. The different kinds of pistes are enjoyable for both beginners and more advanced skiers.
Low Tatras, Slovakia
Hungarians love the neighbouring pistes as well. Slovakia is especially popular due to its proximity and affordable prices. Skiing in Donovaly opens on 7 December. Donovaly is a part of Low Tatras National Park, and it hosts one of the biggest and most popular ski resorts in the country. The elevation is between 910 – 1,402 m, and there are more than 11 km of ski slopes, 17 lifts and elevators. The ski resort has six seated chairlifts and eight seated cabins.
