The summer season will kick off at Budapest’s only free Danube beach on 30 June. The Római part is the only beach near the river in Hungary’s marvellous capital where you do not have to pay to get a grasp of bathing in the ice-cold stream during a hot summer day.

According to enbudapestem.hu, the official news website of the Hungarian capital, the Római beach is to open on 30 June. You can also find the place under the name Római Plázs. HERE is their official Facebook page and HERE you can read an article about the best outdoor beaches near Budapest.

2023 is the fourth consecutive year that the Római opens for the public and tourists of Budapest. Among the pros, one can list the trees near the beach providing shelter from the scorching summer heat between two bathings. The exact venue is the territory between Kossuth Lajos üdülőpart 15-17. Its width is 500 metres, marked by two buoys. The water quality was perfect last year, but the beach was only open between 10 AM and 7 PM, enbudapestem.hu wrote.

The water is better for swimmers than a 50-metre-long pool. If you catch the pace, you can swim for hours without moving anywhere because of the strong drift. Furthermore, since the Danube is a river, it will never get too warm, unlike Hungary’s lakes. There are changing rooms, new camping chairs, while professional lifeguards care about your safety.
