PHOTO REPORT: new appearance of Budapest’s iconic Chain Bridge exposed

Traffic may return to Budapest’s iconic Chain Bridge by the end of this year, Gergely Karácsony, the mayor of the Hungarian capital, wrote in a post shared on his Facebook page.

The revamp project of the Chain Bridge started in the spring of 2021, the implementer is a Hungarian company, A-Híd Ltd. Based on the plans, the work will end in 2023. But the road on the bridge is scheduled to be finished this December. Therefore, cars and buses may return soon.

In August, the company finished the reconstruction works of some key structural elements crucial to stabilize the bridge above the Buda wharf. Thus, traffic could return to the wharves on August 22, bkk.hu reported.

  1. The “finished” refurbishment, to our loved and adored Chain Bridge, will be Magnificent.
    Observing from near our house, in District V, then from across the Duna, in Clarke Adam ter, watching the progress – Exciting.

    Hopefully – god willing we have enough power, when come the time, she has been fully refurbished – after the “cutting” of the ribbon or whatever, to reopen Clarke Adam Bridge, in the day time, that in the evening – we have a SPECIAL Light Show on the Bridge.
