The peak of Hungary getting redesigned

The highest peak of Hungary is about to get a new look. Kékestető Nonprofit Ltd. and investors supporting Kékestető’s development are working on the plans, as Turizmus.com reported.

The planned renovation will be done in multiple phases. The first step was to publish the designs and ideas on 14 October. The date is not accidental: it is written as 10.14. in the Hungarian format, and the height of Kékes is 1014 meters.

It is planned to introduce 14 October as the National Day of Kékestető.

The idea comes from Tamás Dobróka, who is a local entrepreneur and is fond of Kékes. He claimed that he and his partners intend to draw attention to Kékestető and its environment. As it is the highest point of Hungary, it offers both an ideal climate for a sanatorium and a spectacular view of the mountain chains of Mátra.

Tamás Dobróka thinks that the triangular rock with the Hungarian tricolor on the top of Kékestető needs to be redesigned. The investors are planning to announce an art competition inviting creative ideas for marking the peak. They believe that young artists and other creative people might provide useful ideas, and they are curious about what Kékestető represents for people in the 21st century, what symbol they imagine onto the top of Hungary.
