Parliament to amend budget re migration crisis

Budapest (MTI) – Outgoing Fidesz group leader Antal Rogan will take his oath as minister to head the prime minister’s new cabinet office and lawmakers could vote on budget amendments partly in connection with the migrant situation at parliament’s four-day session next week.

On Monday afternoon, Rogan is scheduled to take his oath of office. Hungary’s parliament voted to establish a cabinet office as a separate ministry on Oct.12.

On Tuesday, lawmakers will hold a general debate about the budget of the National Media and Infocommunications Authority for 2016 and its final accounts for last year. After that, if the budget council’s opinion is received, lawmakers will vote on central budget amendments, such as increasing the allocation for extraordinary government measures by 60 billion forints (EUR 194m) for handling of the migration crisis. The amendment proposal also includes taking over the 47.2 billion forints worth of debt of the Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA).
