On this weekend: 20th Duna Karnevál – Music and dance festival in Budapest

The 20th Duna Karnevál (Danube Carnival International Multicultural Festival Budapest) will be held from 6th to 21th of June. Contemporary dancers, international artists, and traditional Hungarian folk dancers meet every June in Budapest to celebrate the joy of dance and music, cseppek.hu reported.

Danube Carnival is a special program series which provides the audience with Hungarian and international programs ranging from contemporary and folk dance to world and folk music. On occasion of its 20th anniversary, the festival also offers a special programme series featuring the most successful productions, artists, music, and dancing troupes of the past two decades.

Apart from providing the audience with long-lasting artistic experience, one of the main endeavours of the “Prime Class” international festival is to popularize and maintain cultural heritage in Europe, and to foster intercultural dialogue between the nations participating.

Among the eighty different programmes, with nearly 2000 artists performing at 12 sites, here are the ones with the highest public expectation:
6th Chan Bridge International Folk Dance Competition on 18 June 2015, Thursday at 6 p.m. A noble rivalry of the participating foreign guest ensembles. The primary objective of the event is to enhance the intercultural dialogue with the spirit of tradition and modernity. International jury evaluates the ensembles and awards the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Chain Bridge Prizes.
