Migrants are trying to get into Hungary from Romania

According to mno.hu, the Hungarian authorities carry out increased inspections on the border section which is not yet protected by a fence.

More and more migrants are trying to enter Hungary at the southeastern border, in the Battonya region – newspaper Magyar Nemzet was informed. They know that there are migrants who are trying to get into the country with a false passport. The authorities carry out increased inspections in the area.

Dozens of migrants are caught at Battonya and around, which is only 8km away from the Hungarian-Romanian border, every week. Local sources reported that around 20-30 migrants arrive from Romania every week. However, the influx of immigrants has only recently been strengthened in the region. People who know the area well say most of them arrive in Battonya over the green border by touching Temesvar/Timisoara through Pecska, but most of them are caught. According to unconfirmed information, there are people who are trying to enter the country with fake passports.

Mno.hu knows that authorities carry out increased inspections on the about 40km-long section of the border, and the Romanian police also makes great efforts to ensure the identification of the migrants. However, authorities have no easy task, since the terrain and the woodlands offer the migrants appropriate hiding possibilities. According to the locals, the inspection is significant especially at night; there were people who saw 4-5 military vehicles patrolling in the neighborhood. It shows the increased preparedness that cars are often stopped at Battonya and racks are checked as well, mno.hu wrote.
