A new era begins: Mamaison Hotel Chain Bridge luxuriously opening in Budapest!

In the heart of Budapest, near the banks of the Danube, the Mamaison Hotel Chain Bridge, an elegant four-star superior hotel combining modern luxury with 1930s bohemian style, is about to open. The building’s history dates back more than eight decades, but it is now being completely reborn as one of the city’s most unique hotels. 

The hotel’s interior design concept is the creation of renowned Hungarian designer Zoltán Varró, whose work is recognised worldwide. The distinctive visual landscape evokes the world of cabaret and cabaret entertainers while offering state-of-the-art hotel services. The renovation of the building has taken many years and was temporarily halted by the Covid pandemic. However, everything is now ready for the summer opening.

History of the building

Built in 1937 on the site of the hotel, the building was originally the headquarters of the Hungarian Commercial Bank of Pest. After the Second World War, it was used as an office building and was converted into a hotel in 2000, remaining in operation until 2019. The current renovation began in 2016 with the aim of creating a modern yet timeless hotel that meets the needs of both business and leisure travellers.

The structural work on the hotel was completed in 2020, but the pandemic put the project on hold for an extended period. Construction resumed last summer and has now reached the final stages of interior design. The building’s external scaffolding has recently been removed, revealing the hotel’s unique architecture.

With the opening of the Mamaison Hotel Chain Bridge, the Mamaison brand itself is undergoing a transformation. The new look will first be introduced at the hotel on Mérleg Street, which will be one of the first examples of the group’s fresh concept.

The Mamaison Group is introducing three sub-brands to meet different guest needs: Mamaison Hotels, offering a traditional premium hotel experience; Mamaison Residences, providing exclusive options for long-stay guests; and Mamaison Vibe Hotels, targeting a young, dynamic audience. The first Mamaison Vibe Hotel will open later this year in the centre of Budapest, featuring a modern, trendy design that aims to offer a completely new hotel experience.

What the Mamaison Hotel Chain Bridge offers

The hotel features 54 unique suites, each named after Budapest’s most famous bridges. The spacious rooms all boast elegant designs and practical layouts, according to Turizmus. Even the smallest junior suites are 36-40 square metres, with special touches such as a round bed and a bathtub in the bedroom. The one-bedroom apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, making them ideal for business travellers on extended stays. Larger suites can be connected to create up to two-bedroom residences, perfect for families and groups of friends.
