Hungary Under 21s begin their new European championship qualifying campaign under the leadership of Robert Kilin with an away fixture against Liechtenstein this Thursday at 15:00 CET. The squad has naturally taken on a different look after several of those eligible for the squad and already performing well in this season’s Hungarian top flight such as Endre Botka, Ádám Nagy and Zsolt Kalmár, were called up to Bernd Storck’s full international squad.

“Our preparation period has been short and we’ve only played a few warm-up matches so I can’t finish this period of building the team with a smile on my face”, said Mr Kilin to MLSZ.hu. “At the same time, our performance against Italy gives reason for our team to feel assured about themselves.”

Mr Kilin, who was Mr Storck’s assistant coach during the Hungary Under 20 team’s FIFA U20 World Cup adventure in New Zealand earlier this summer, also stated it doesn’t matter that Italy is not the opponent nor that they need to play football at the home of a small nation, because all of his national team footballers must take every match seriously as only with that will the possibility of victory be able to become a reality on the pitch.

Mr Kilin also talked of how he had to change his squad once it became apparent the three aforementioned young footballers would be called up to Mr Storck’s squad for the EURO 2016 qualifier against Romania on Friday, therefore Budapesti Honvéd’s Kalmár, already an internationally-capped player, and Botka and Nagy of Ferencváros will not be in Eschen with the rest of the U21s.
