International Theatre Festival in the National Theatre – from 26th March to 7th April

19 performances from 13 countries are on view in the Madách International Theatre Meeting (MITEM) at the National Theatre from 26th March to 7th April – according to MTI.
The MITEM organized diverse and various programmes as part of the Budapest Spring Festival. For this reason many foreign artists and directors are invited: Anatolij Vasziljev, Viktor Rizsakov and Valerij Fokin Russian directors, the Lithuanian director Riman Tuminas, the French director Claude Régy and the Norwegian dramatist Jon Fosse are also among the invited guests visiting Hungary.
During the 13 days of the festival the audience has a chance not only to see Hungarian performances but to meet with the theatre companies of the twelve countries, such as the theatres of Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Baghdad, Novi Sad, Vilnius, Bucharest and Oslo. This year Russia is the Guest of Honor at the MITEM.
Two Russian theatre plays will be displayed on the opening day of the ceremony. One of them is The Government Inspector by Gogol, a performance of the Moscow Art Theatre directed by Viktor Rizsakov and the other is the Zero liturgy performance directed by Valerij Fokin from the Alekszandrinszkij Theatre in St. Petersburg. This play is based on the work of Dostoevsky. Furthermore, the Cursed and Murdered directed by Rizsakov can also be seen.
Moreover, the program includes a Fancy-dress Ball performance directed by Rimas Tuminas from the Vilnius Small Theatre and the Two Lottery Tickets performance directed by Alexandru Dabija from the Bucharest National Theatre. The audience can enjoy the famous Alice in Wonderland theatre play directed by Andrej Mogucsij of St. Petersburg Great Dramatic Theatre.
