The most interesting playgrounds in Budapest

Change language:

Kids love playgrounds but finding new, fun playgrounds where children can take their swing can be tough for parents. Lobu.hu collected the three most interesting playgrounds of Budapest, where kids can play in the sand, swing, or play hide and seek for hours.

Cerka-firka playground (“Pencil-doodling” playground)

It can be found on Gellért Mountain and it is a quite new playground in the city as it was inaugurated in the April of 2014. Approximately 14,000 plants were planted in its vicinity with the help of both parents and kids. It was named after the pencils of which you can find quite a lot in the area. The easiest way to get there is by bus N°27: you get off at Citadella and walk upwards a little. If you’re going there with a stroller, make sure to choose this option as the other one (trail from Gellért Square) is not to baby-friendly.

There’s rubber revetment around the games, but choosing closed shoes for children is advisable to avoid smaller rocks getting into their shoes. However, the type of the shoe doesn’t matter in case of the “pencil sharpener”, which basically works like a treadwheel and is an absolute favourite. Naturally, you can also find monkey bars, slides, trampolines and sand boxes.
