Hungary’s national consultation on internet to consider 6 topics

Budapest (MTI) – Six topics have emerged as themes to be discussed as part of Hungary’s national consultation on the internet, the government commissioner in charge of the consultation told a news conference on Wednesday.

Tamás Deutsch mentioned affordable services, developing digital competences, universal access to the world wide web, data protection, use of technology to support the economy and ensuring high-quality services and content as themes which emerged in a preliminary consultation of internet users.

Speaking about technology to support the economy, he noted possibilities such as support for start-ups, getting small and medium-sized firms involved in developing the broadband network and supporting the presence of smaller firms on the internet using European Union sources of financing. The commissioner also mentioned possible tax breaks in connection with spreading internet use in Hungary.
