Hungary expresses condolences over Munich shooting attack

Budapest, July 23 (MTI) – Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó sent a telegram of condolences to German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier after the armed attack in Munich late on Friday.

“I was shocked to hear of tonight’s murderous attack in Munich. Hungary stands by Germany in these difficult hours. This atrocious attack has confirmed that we must take more seriously than ever efforts to protect the safety of European citizens,” Szijjártó said in the letter.

The Hungarian foreign minister expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.

Hungarian President János Áder also expressed his condolences. In a telegram to German president Joachim Gauck, he wrote, “I was deeply shocked to hear of the cruel armed attack … Let me express my sincere condolences on behalf of the Hungarian people and myself to the families of the victims.
