Out of the 2300 works submitted to the programme 18 diploma projects were chosen. Among the nominees were 14 live action and 4 animated films, from which the international jury, headed by Naomi Kawase Japanese director, decided on the winners.
The Hungarian animated short film shares the 3rd place with the Venezuelan Michael Labarca. The 1st prize was awarded to the Israeli Or Sinai for her short film Anna, while the 2nd place was taken by the British Hamid Ahmadi for his work In the Hills.
After seeing the other contestants, many of which became her favourite, Nadja Andrasev did not expect to win a prize. She thought that the jury would favour live action films, or films with a deeper social message to her work, which has a more personal tone to it, she says. However, before the award ceremony, one of the organiser recommended that she took her place closer to the side of the row, suggesting that she might be called on stage.
