According to mlsz.hu, Videoton deservedly claimed all three points at their temporary home of Felcsút courtesy of a 3-0 win against in-form Haladás.

Haladás came off the back of a four-game winning streak and would have been happy to see that of Vidi’s four most recent signings, only Marko Scsepovic had made the starting lineup with József Varga on the bench and Attila Fiola and Anel Hadzic not in the squad at all. The visitors started the better but the hosts soon came back into the game and started directing play, Danko Lazovic going closest to opening the scoring so far with a deflected effort from 20 metres which struck the post and went out for a corner. Two minutes later Filipe Oliveira had a great opportunity to score when he went through one-on-one against Gábor Király but he dallied, allowing Predrag Bosnjak to slide in and prevent a shot.

All the game’s goals came in the second-half, Stopira handing Vidi the lead when he made sure that Nego’s deflected shot crossed the goalline in the 51st minute. The home dominated thereafter but Géza Mészöly’s team almost equalised out of nowhere when nice team play resulted in the woodwork being struck twice within a matter of seconds, Kristóf Polgár with the second attempt from close range. Two minutes later the match was effectively over as Videoton stretched their lead through Feczesin’s back-post finish from Oliveira’s excellent cross for his sixth goal of the season.

Further bad news for Hali came in the form of an injury to former Hungary goalkeeper Király during that second goal and their nightmare afternoon was complete when Hungary Under-21 striker Krisztián Géresi fired into the bottom right corner to make it 3-0. Haladás are still joint second in NBI on 14 points but their victors are now just one place and one point behind them.

Hungary’s ‘eternal derby’ surprisingly went the way of MTK at their temporary home of Dunaújváros on Sunday thanks to a last-minute penalty from veteran Sándor Torghelle. MTK defended resolutely in the first half, barely giving the reigning champions a sniff at goal and building for themselves a foundation which helped them take the lead in the 34th minute, Under 21 international winger Dániel Gera collecting Torghelle’s crossfield pass and dispatching a rising shot into the net to hand his team a slender half-time advantage. The introduction of South Korean substitute Rju Sung Vu at the break improved Thomas Doll’s team no end and it was he who found the equaliser in the 70th minute.

Everything pointed towards the likelihood of a Ferencváros winner, especially when former player Dragan Vukmir was dismissed in the 78th minute to leave MTK a man down, but incredibly it was the home team which snatched victory in Hungary’s oldest derby, Fradi’s Djuricin handling the ball in his team’s box and Torghelle stepping up to seal a 2-1 win from the spot. The three points puts daylight between MTK and the relegation zone while Ferencváros fall five points behind Vasas at the top of NBI.
