HUF 50 coin in honour of the FINA World Championships

The National Bank of Hungary issues a commemorative HUF 50 coin honouring the 17th FINA World Championships. There will be 2 million pieces of the unique coin issued among which 12 000 coins would come as gift-wrapped first strike coins (brilliant uncirculated) whereas 7000 pieces would be proof coins in the 2017 set. The coin has been presented by the National Bank of Hungary and Bp2017 LLC. (in charge of organising and conducting the World Championships) at a press conference on Wednesday.
The reverse side of coins to be issued are identical to that of the currently used HUF 50 coin while the obverse side will be decorated with the logo of the 17th FINA World Championships instead of the saker falcon.
The coin has been presented at a press conference exactly a month ahead of the opening ceremony of the World Championships and it was attended by Tünde Szabó, Minister of State for Sport, Tibor Pataki, Head of Directorate Cash Logistics, Éva Szántó, Executive Director at Bp2017 LLC., Sándor Balogh, Director of Finance at Bp2017 LLC. and Andrea Gyarmati, Olympic silver and bronze medallist, World Championships bronze medallist and European champion swimmer, one of the 17th FINA World Championships ambassadors.

The obverse side of the coin was designed by István Kósa. Concerning its technical parameters, the coin is identical to the HUF 50 coin in use: alloy of copper (75%) and nickel (25%), weighs 7.70 grams, diameter is 27.4 mm, flange is 1.8 mm, smooth side.
