Foreign national horrifically murdered in a popular Hungarian spa town

The perpetrators met the foreign victim abroad and later invited him to their weekend house near Hajdúszoboszló. There, the terrible murder occurred, followed by the burial and encasement of the body in concrete.

They were friends

Many might recognise the chilling scene from the TV series Aranyélet, where the main character’s friend is cemented into a swimming pool under construction so the authorities never find out what happened. In the show, they never do, even though his mother is a high-ranking state official.

Something similar happened to a Polish tourist in Hungary in 2023. The perpetrator had met the victim, who was Polish, back in 2013, and they became friends. The man returned home, met a woman, and the two later invited the Polish man—who had come to Hungary for a few days of holiday—to their weekend house near Hajdúszoboszló.

On 27 September 2023, the victim arrived at Debrecen airport, where the pair collected him and drove him to their weekend home nearby, according to reports. The days passed happily, with shared time, excursions, food, and drink. However, on the night before the victim’s planned departure, the alcohol flowed excessively, and a fight broke out between the two men after the neighbours had gone home. The exact cause has never been disclosed by the police or the media, but it is certain they quarreled violently, and at one point the Hungarian man pushed his Polish friend to the ground.

He killed his foreign friend using a baseball bat and his hands

In that moment, the Hungarian man called for help from his partner, who handed him a metal baseball bat without hesitation. The Hungarian hit the Polish man twice on the back of the head with the bat while he lay face down, then strangled him until he died.
