Here are the details of the new mask wearing regulation in Hungary

The new mask wearing rules have officially been published in the Hungarian Gazette. As you probably know (and see), Hungary has introduced further easing after exceeding 5.5 million inocculated – among others, you no longer have to wear a mask in several places. Here are the details.

Masks are no longer mandatory indoors or outdoors. In addition, mask-wearing on public transport is also no longer mandatory, though the rule remains in force in social care settings and hospitals.

According to the regulation, “everyone in a healthcare institution must wear a medical mask, a safety mask or a mask made of textile or other material in such a way that it permanently covers the nose and mouth”.

Patients in a health care institution are not required to wear a mask in the ward where they are cared for.

Index points out that children under the age of six and people with an intellectual or psychosocial disabilities are not required to wear a mask.

In addition, health care workers are not required to wear a mask in non-patient rooms that are not open to patient traffic, in offices and other workplaces.

When receiving a visitor who is not a protected person in a social institution, employees – on the occasion of community programs, while staying in community spaces – and any person present for other purposes is obliged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth.
