The blaze, which erupted after closing hours and consumed the aqua therapy section’s roof, rendered the iconic spa complex unusable. In the wake of this tragedy, both the former mayor, Pál Veres, and the newly elected József Tóth-Szántai vowed to prioritise the reconstruction and reopening of this popular destination. Their commitment has been bolstered by government support, recognising the baths’ vital role as a regional tourist attraction and an economic lifeline for many families.
