The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) held in Győr was a real Hungarian success story

In the past couple of weeks all media attention was focused on FINA 17th World Championships which clouded another important sporting events like the European Youth Olympic Festival held in the city of Győr.
The event attended by 2500 athletes from 50 countries.
Members of the Hungarian team won a total of 41 medals, thus closing the most successful EYOF event ever that was hosted by Hungary the first time this year.
The young athletes were greeted at the Larus Restaurant and Congress Center in Budapest on Sunday morning by the President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee Krisztián Kulcsár.
Hungary have participated in the EYOF with 152 athletes, which is the largest number ever taking part in the event.
Hungarian athletes have closed the tournament by winning 13 gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze medals (41 medals) finishing 3rd in the medal table.


Hungarian athletes have won medals in 6 of the 10 events (athletics, judo, kayak, handball, basketball and swimming).
The most successful athlete of the team, was swimmer Réka Nagy who won 6 medals: 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

“The mood and the whole team were fantastic,” said Réka.
