Der Spiegel: If PM Orbán stays, Hungary must be ejected from the European Union

Der Spiegel has even put the question to a public poll, where the current tally shows a staggering 92% of respondents voting to boot us out of the European Union.
Orbán wages anti-EU campaign, claims Spiegel
According to 444.hu, the German weekly posed this question to its readers: “Should Hungary be excluded from the EU?” The response was unequivocal.
The publication’s leading article goes further, accusing Viktor Orbán of effectively campaigning against the European Union itself in the run-up to the 2026 election. Hungary is presently plastered with giant billboards declaring that Péter Magyar, the opposition leader, is a puppet of the European Commission; that Ursula von der Leyen, the Commission president, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, have colluded to drag all of Europe into war; and that the extra burdens and borrowing imposed to defend against Russia’s aggression in Ukraine will bleed the country dry.

Government figures reiterate this narrative day after day. According to the Orbán administration, the European Commission has teamed up with the Ukrainians to oust the Hungarian government, simply because it champions peace in Ukraine. That, they claim, is why Budapest receives no funds from Brussels.
Experts counter that the money is withheld because the government fails to meet rule-of-law conditions, while scepticism towards Hungary grows in Brussels and EU institutions owing to the Orbán regime’s pro-Russian stance.

Orban has turned Hungary into an enemy of Europe. Let’s change that on April 12th.
Yes, Dear Larry, Orbán Viktor is an enemy of Europe – the Modern Europe that tortures and pillages it’s citizens with an endless array of invented catastrophes.
I studied the Hungarian polls yesterday, and those 2 pollsters who were, by far, most accurate in the 2024 election both have Fidesz up by 5 points.
All those other polls that you have recently seen here are being jeered all across Hungary for their buffoonery.
But, if you mean to suggest that April 12 will be pivotal in the fight for the survival and resurgence of Europe, then, yes, I agree.
Let the EU kick Orbán out, I say … let them.
Other countries, like a soon to be led by the AFD Germany, will soon follow.
Let’s not!
“German taxpayers’ money cannot flow to a country whose politics align with Putin’s”. Yes. You can bet 100% that Hungary won’t get a penny from the EU should Fidesz win this election. Hungary will be outcast and mostly already is. Orban will take Hungary down the hole of a Russian toilet.
I will choose to keep Hungary’s borders strong and our streets free from third-world rapists, robbers, terrorists, and parasites.
And the E.U. can keep my 200 euros it would’ve given Hungary per capita.
Scum.
Why would Hungary ever need German tax payers’ money. Hungary, or any Nation in existence, should never need any other Nation’s tax payers’ money, otherwise, it just should not exist. Hungary existed for over 1,000 years without German taxpayers’ money! Larry, you are mentally ill, please seek help!
And why do Orbán and Fidesz so desperately refuse to leave the EU, even though they claim every day that the EU is severely damaging Hungary?
Are they masochists who enjoy inflicting pain on themselves, or could it perhaps be because Orbán and Fidesz would immediately face political and economic ruin and then have to forgo their livelihood?
I have been reading Der Spiegel longer than most of the commenters here have been alive.
It is a wonderfully thoughtful periodical, as is The New York Times, though, in both cases, it, just like Bloomberg or The Washington Post, fills the minds of it’s readers with wild yarns that poison their perception of fundamental reality.
“I have been reading Der Spiegel longer than most of the commenters here have been alive. It is a wonderfully thoughtful periodical… ”
Hello Comrade Mouton,
Do you even know anything about this newspaper? It’s so far left-leaning that it would be difficult to find another one in Germany that’s even more so. Der Spiegel has been one of Ukraine’s biggest supporters from the very beginning, and you won’t find a single positive word about Russia or Hungary in it.
And this is your preferred German newspaper which you say is wonderful? You’re a pathetic liar. You probably don’t even speak German. You might be able to look at pictures in a German newspaper, but given your demonstrated lack of knowledge, I seriously doubt you’d understand them correctly. Mouton is so simple-minded that he reveals his true colors with every sentence he writes.
Maybe you speak about the Anti-Spiegel. This is a pamphlet of Russian propaganda.
Obviously, you don’t know the meaning of sarcasm when you see it!
Sarcasm is a rhetorical device. With sarcasm, you can express something (similar to irony) by saying the opposite of what you actually mean. Sarcasm aims to hurt or ridicule people.
For example, it would be sarcasm if someone in a language course makes a mistake or solves an assignment incorrectly, and another person comments something like:
“Wow, you did a great job with that assignment!” or
“You didn’t make any mistakes on the test? True, but on almost every page.”
Now let’s analyze Mouton’s text to see what it actually means by contrasting his statements.
So it should read (the opposite):
“I’ve only been reading Der Spiegel for a short time, much less than most of the commenters here have even been alive. It’s a bad, superficial magazine, like the New York Times, Bloomberg, and the Washington Post; it fills its readers’ heads with realistic stories and doesn’t poison their perception of basic reality.”
That’s supposed to be a sarcastic statement. That’s just primitive, self-contradictory nonsense, nothing more!
I advise Mr. Johnson to familiarize himself a bit with the definitions of terms before he starts lashing out here and doesn’t act according to the motto, “What do I care about my stupid babble from yesterday!”
Just for future reference, so Mr. Johnson doesn’t have to make a fool of himself again:
Sarcasm
You express sarcasm by saying the opposite of something. Sarcasm is usually biting, rather negative, and aims to hurt or ridicule people.
Irony
Irony You also express irony by saying the opposite of something. Irony is usually humorous, playful, and positive.
“Well, that task was easy!”
Cynicism
Cynicism is usually negative, bitter, hurtful, and expresses distrust and criticism.
“Practice your listening comprehension? Perfect if you don’t understand a thing.”
Correct me if you spot any errors in my description of these terms!
Since I don’t know Johnny’s last name, but I want to be polite, I simply gave him the alias Mr. Johnson. 🙂
It sounds good and like the beginning of an alliterative rhyme: Johnny Johnson.

Note to Mr. Johnson, in case he’s confused by the term alliteration, Google knows more!
But I’m sure Johnny knows everything! (Irony)
If he understands German better, I’ve also translated part of the text into German for him using Google!
The EU is nothing but MARXISM BY THE BACKDOOR!!! Whether Hungary leaves the EU through a Huxit, or is kicked out, either would be a godsend! So EU, please kick Hungary out of your marxist club and fcuk off!!!
Exactly Johnny! HUXIT asap
👍
I agree with Johnny on this point: a Hungary under Orbán’s leadership should leave the EU as quickly as possible; there’s no need to preach to the choir. Mr. Johnson should instead talk to Orbán and his mafia organization, because that’s the only reason this is failing. With the possible exception of Fico (but I’m not sure about that), all EU members would be overjoyed.
