Cruise tourists love Budapest

According to origo.hu, 400 thousand visitors were in the capital last year who came mainly from overseas, from Australia, the USA, Canada or New Zealand, and their several-week cruise started or finished in Budapest. The number of European cruise tourists has stagnated in recent years. How cruise tourism can be stimulated? Among other things, there was a talk about it at the International Danube Cruise Conference.

Tourists on Danube spend more than 80 thousand guest nights in five-star downtown hotels or places along the Danube River every year, but hotel ships are also becoming more involved in tourism. Today, there is no river cruise company in Europe whose one of the main target would not be Budapest.

20^th International Danube Cruise Conference was opened on Thursday, which is the most prestigious Hungarian event of the international river cruise profession. In the anniversary year, the topic of river navigation was mainly processed by the Hungarian and foreign guests. On the first day, management and developing possibilities of shipping routes, security policy and tourism issues were discussed, origo.hu wrote.
