In the European Union, Romania, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Latvia are behind Hungary regarding the average lifespan. Although Hungarian women live for six more years than men do, this statistics is still one of the worst on the continent.
24.hu reported that in the poorest regions of Hungary, people die sooner than in areas with better living conditions. The Hungarian capital is considered to be the best place to live, but many people do not suspect that there are drastic differences between districts in Budapest regarding the expected lifespan.
For example, in District 5 and on the Buda side of the capital, people live longer than in any other Budapest district.
Regarding women, the worst situation and shortest average one woman lives are in Józsefváros and Kőbánya, but on the other side, districts 2, 5, and 12 are among the best ones. Statistics revealed that between 2010 and 2018, the average lifespan increased in every district; most intensely in District 5. The only district which did not show any development is District 23.
