Chief Security Advisor: There is no question of migration coming to a stop

According to Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister György Bakondi, there is no question of migration coming to a stop, because although the number of people arriving in Europe from war zones in Syria and Iraq is decreasing, more are arriving from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Speaking on Hungarian M1 television’s Thursday morning current affairs program, Mr. Bakondi said: People coming from Syria and Iraq are now increasingly stopping in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan and preparing to return home in view of the fact that they will eventually have the opportunity to do so thanks to the military operations.

He pointed out that those who are arriving from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sub-Saharan Africa are not fleeing war, but are setting out for Europe in the hope of a better life because of economic problems in their homeland.

Regardless of the onset of winter, movement is being seen along the migration routes in the direction of Spain from Algeria and Morocco, towards Italy from Tunisia and Libya, and from Turkey to the Greek islands and towards Romania via the Black Sea, he said.
