According to origo.hu, Müpa (Palace of Arts) welcomes visitors with spectacular new circus shows, kids’ programmes, popular music concerts, cultural programmes, an ice-rink and one of Budapest’s most special Christmas trees, this holiday season.
Müpa’s Culture Outdoors venue (Kultúr Kültér) opened on the 4th of December. A big tent was built in the parking lot, which is the venue for kids’ programmes, concerts and circus shows. Among others, the Hungarian Recirquel, a Belgian circus duo, András Hajós, Modern Art Orchestra and Hot Jazz Band are all performing.
They also built a 400 m2 ice-rink near the tent, where you can show off your figure-skating moves until the 6th of January. You can buy tickets in the local ticket office, but if you already have a ticket for any other Müpa or Ludwig Museum event, then you can use the ice-rink for free. After skating, you can reward yourself with some mulled wine, hot chocolate or spicy apple drink.
But the most sensational Christmas element this year is probably Hello Wood’s unique design Christmas tree in front of Müpa, which you can visit until the 31st of December. The festive tree is 11 metres tall, has a diameter of 5 metres and a ground space of 20 square metres. It is illuminated by 110 metres of LED string-lights every night, thus flashing the names of the artists and companies performing in Müpa.
