(MTI) – The CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival will feature nearly 250 events, including classical music, jazz and popular music concerts, dance performances, exhibitions and literary events, at 47 venues between October 3 and 19, the organisers said on Thursday.

Human Resources Minister Zoltan Balog told a press conference that the government had contributed 600 million forints to the festival’s total budget of 724 million forints.

Mayor Istvan Tarlos said that other Budapest cultural festivals held in the spring and summer had already proven the success of cooperation between the government and the city council.

“CAFe Budapest is a good example showing that the greatest beneficiary of cooperation between the government and the capital is culture,” Tarlos said.

CAFe Budapest has been organised by the Hungarian Tourism company, the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre (BTFK) and the Palace of Arts (Mupa).

BTFK managing director Teodora Ban said that CAFe Budapest would be among the top European festivals.

Mupa managing director Csaba Kael said that the festival programme includes 84 free events.
