Attention, service change! Budapest metro to skip multiple stations next week!

Change language:
Due to maintenance works over the Easter holiday, Budapest metro line M1 will operate on a shortened route.
Metro line M1 is the oldest metro line in the Hungarian capital. It connects the Vörösmarty Square in the 5th district, the heart of the city, with the City Park (Városliget) and Mexikói Street. It was the first underground on the European mainland and the world’s second oldest subway after the London Underground. It was finished by April 1896 and was inaugurated by the emperor of Austria-Hungary, Franz Joseph, on 3 May 1896.

Budapest metro service change
Between 22 (Tuesday) and 27 (Sunday) April, the M1 metro line will undergo maintenance. Thus, passengers can travel by replacement buses between the Deák Ferenc Square and the Oktogon stations. Consequently, the metro will omit the Bajcsy Zsilinszky Road station, where the Saint Stephen Basilica is and the Opera station near Andrássy Avenue.
