According to the data of Hungarian Tourism (MT) Zrt., the hotel ships’ visitor turnover is rising: experts estimate it reached 400 thousand people in 2014 and it shows a double-digit growth in 2015, the Hungarian capital has become one of the centers of river cruise tourism, atv.hu said.
The newsletter of MT Zrt. highlights: the role of Budapest remained privileged, since the nearly two-week Danube trips either start or end here. Thanks to these, passengers, who mainly arrive due to river navigation from overseas, generate more than 10 thousand guest nights in Hungary.
The bulletin cites tourism deputy CEO Tamas Glazer who said at the inauguration of the two new Danube ships of the Australian shipping company Emerald Waterways: the Danube river cruise tourism plays an increasingly important role in Hungary’s tourism. Budapest is the attractive station of river cruises affecting several European cities.
