Budapest Airport officials hold talks in China

„Budapest Airport offers numerous advantages, both for Chinese and international logistics companies, especially in connection with e-commerce, i.e. the online product orders market. This segment is becoming increasingly important in Hungary, and accounted for 4-5% of total retail trade in the country last year,” emphasized Jost Lammers, the CEO of Budapest Airport. He added: “We are launching another major logistics development project, the Cargo City, which will be operational next year, for the benefit of our partners.”

Budapest Airport participated in the Shanghai forum sharing a stand with its sister airports Hamburg and Düsseldorf.

Managers from BUD discussed opportunities for launching several new cargo flights, and experienced significant interest from their Chinese counterparts, in connection with the One Belt One Road Initiative.

Budapest Airport’s managers also invited Chinese and other international partners to taste some Hungarian wines in Shanghai, along with Szilárd Bolla, the consul general of Hungary in Shanghai, who provides valuable support for the launch of Chinese flights and organizing BUD’s business meetings.

“Over the past years, Chinese business and political decision-makers devoted particular attention to the Central and Eastern European region, so it is important for Hungary to utilize this attention as best as possible, in order to achieve its own foreign trade objectives. Budapest currently does not have any direct aerial connections to East and South China or Southeastern Asia, so it is high time to launch a flight to this region,” said Szilárd Bolla, the consul general of Hungary in Shanghai.
