Budapest Airport is eager to please Chinese travellers with brand new services

Due to the increasing number of Chinese travellers, Budapest Airport is making a few changes to make their journey easier; including Chinese information boards, an application, and the introduction of Alipay and UnionPay at the duty-free shops of the airport.

No. of Chinese travellers on the rise

Over 200,000 people flew to Budapest from China last year.

It is expected that this number will continue to increase in 2019. As Daily News Hungary reported earlier, Shanghai-Budapest direct flights will be introduced starting from June 2019. Shanghai Airlines plans to commence operations to Budapest with three weekly flights (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).

New services

Turizmus.com reports that Budapest Airports is planning to introduce several new services for Chinese tourists. For example, two new payment solutions will be introduced that are particularly popular among the Chinese: Alipay and UnionPay. Now, people will have a chance to pay through these online payment methods at the duty-free shops of Budapest Airport. After the duty-free shops, these will probably be established at the restaurant facilities of SkyCourt as well.
