Another international airport to be opened in the South Caucasus

Change language:
The 44-day war in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh ended with the signing of the Russian-Azerbaijani-Armenian Trilateral Agreement on November 10, 2020.
Although the ceasefire is not peace per se, which is still yet to be formally signed between the two countries at war some time in the future, the full scale reconstruction has already begun.
Azerbaijan has launched the greatest ever construction projects in the territories that have been rapidly liberated during the war, while Russia helps to rebuild the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, which remains part of Azerbaijan with the Russian peacekeepers deployed there.
Yesterday,
Azerbaijan announced yet another ambitious plan to open a new international airport in the liberated town of Fizuli.

It is thought to be the biggest airline gateway in the formerly war-torn zone. At the same time,
the construction of an ultra-modern highway from Fizuli to Shusha is already on the way too.
