EP Elections – Jobbik Campaign Based On Human Rights, Says Morvai

(MTI) – The radical nationalist Jobbik party has put human dignity and rights at the centre of its campaign preceding the upcoming European parliamentary election, Krisztina Morvai, who heads the party’s list, told a press conference on Sunday.

Morvai said her party wanted to make the EU face the fact that for many Hungarians “European norms are not reflected in everyday life”. She noted that some people who work in assembly halls for a monthly 60,000-70,000 forints (about 200 euros) are “totally deprived of employee rights” and are made to feel like “disposable objects” because of the uncertainty of their labour contracts.

Morvai insisted that her party wanted to represent the interests of those people in the European Parliament, adding that they would launch trial cases of typical employee complaints, through which “this system of denying labour rights” could be dismantled. She said she was planning to set up a team of lawyers to fight for employee rights, adding that it was her personal ambition to “harmonise European ideals and the actual situation of employees in Hungary”.
