New poll: Orbán should brace for crushing defeat as Péter Magyar eyes constitutional rewrite

A new poll suggests Péter Magyar’s Tisza Party could secure a two-thirds constitutional majority—or even four-fifths—if the latest Medián survey holds true. The opposition challenger boasts such a commanding lead, political analyst Gábor Török declares, that the election is all but decided. Orbán’s camp dismisses the figures as laughable, which also underscore that the government’s lavish handouts have failed to sway party preferences.
Handouts fail to move the needle?
Months ago, Viktor Orbán and his government unveiled a slew of measures, all timed for payout in the final weeks before polling day. Members of the armed forces—police and soldiers—received “weapon money” equivalent to six months’ pay; pensioners got a 13th-month payment plus a week’s worth of a 14th (totalling 1.25 months’ pension). From January, the family tax allowance rose, and the circle of tax-exempt mothers expanded further.

Yet Medián’s data indicate these gestures have barely registered with Hungarian voters. Their latest representative telephone poll, conducted between 18 and 23 February, shows Tisza leading by 11 points (42% to 31%) among the full population, and by a staggering 20 points (55% to 35%) among decided, certain voters. Only Mi Hazánk would scrape into parliament; DK and MKKP languish at 2% each. Gathering the 500 supporter endorsements per constituency proves a Herculean task for these three, reports suggest—convincing people to sign remains tough, even though multiple candidates can be backed since 2014.
Tisza’s relentless rise
If Medián’s numbers are even roughly accurate, they herald a Tisza supermajority. The poll suggests public sentiment has shrugged off not only the smear attempt via a sex video targeting Péter Magyar, but also the Göd Samsung factory scandal.

Orbán, collect your oligarch and leave as soon as possible 😂
The defeat is on the door and you see it coming.
‘The defeat is on the door and you see it coming.’
You may be right, Dear Rádzs. Concerned about that I went to consult Medián’s polls, at this exact time in the 2022 election.
Márki-Zay – 43
Orbán – 49
The actual election results?
Márki-Zay – 32.7
Orbán – 55.5
That, My Dear Rádzs, is a 16 point discrepancy, skewed in favour of The Left.
Using the 16 point bias to The Left, we go to the recent Medián poll for the coming April 12 2026 election…
Fidesz – 35
Tisza – 55
Adding in the 16 point Left bias of Medián, that means Magyar is holding a 4 point lead, which is impressive, particularly in light of the fact that polling in recent months has not shown that.
Has something transformative happened in the campaign, or is this bold-faced lying designed to repress Right wing turnout?

In my worst nightmares, I imagine Mouton getting money from Russia without any qualifications and not even having to work for it, just writing nonsense!
But life is sometimes very unfair, since he certainly won’t get paid for that drivel. Even the Russians wouldn’t be that stupid.
Well said Péter 😂😂😂😂
They are trying to grab as much money as they can from Hungarians on their way out the door. The rushed sale of land around railway stations in Budapest is one example. Tisza needs to put out a warning that all state asset sales in the weeks leading to the election will be declared invalid by the new gobernment. Once Tisza takes over a judicial commission needs to be set up to investigate all corrupt deals and theft of the funds of the Hungarian people by the Fidesz elite.
This passage strongly emphasizes accountability and transparency, which are important themes in any democratic process. It presents a clear call for oversight and responsible governance, highlighting public interest and protection of national assets. Overall, it’s a thought-provoking perspective that encourages civic awareness and discussion around political and economic integrity.
Trump’s support finished the Viktator….what made him think that support from a pedo-conman would help him win the election’s ?!
Bloomberg: Orban Is heading for open conflict with EU and Ukraine. For the sake of the election.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is going all-in, rolling out an anti-Ukrainian campaign less than seven weeks before elections, blasting the latest EU aid packages to Kiev and measures to punish Moscow. The prospect of a historic defeat that could end his 16-year rule has him on the defensive after an independent poll showed Orban’s party trailing by 20 points.
Orban used to bargain with the EU to block aid to Ukraine, but always ended up compromising. Now, for fear of losing the election, he is afraid of looking weak and may go on principle to the very end.
Orban’s attacks on Kiev were part of his strategy even before Russia’s full-scale invasion, drawing on historical grievances and Budapest’s ties to Moscow. He recently redoubled his efforts, branding Ukraine and its EU backers “warmongers” seeking to cut off energy supplies to Hungary and promising to keep the country out of the conflict.
“This is very, very unfortunate. Of course, on the positive side, we have seen this before and always in the end come to a result and a solution,” EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said in a recent interview.
Orban’s confrontations with Brussels have indeed been resolved in the past – usually to keep the flow of money from the EU flowing or to bargain for concessions. Budapest has been careful not to sever relations with other capitals entirely. But now that Orban is fighting for his political life ahead of a vote in April, his focus is on shoring up domestic support, the diplomat said on condition of anonymity.
The Median poll could be a sobering factor for Orban. The Tisza party, led by ruling elite outlet Peter Magyar, is ahead of Orban’s Fidesz party with 55 percent against 35 percent among those who are determined to vote (up from a 12 percent gap in mid-January).
This gap is the largest recorded by independent pollsters and puts Tisza on the path to a supermajority in parliament. The forint strengthened 0.6 percent against the euro after the poll was published.
This fundamental shift in Budapest is fueling Orban’s rhetoric: he is increasingly arguing that his role as Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s closest ally in the EU has paid off. Hungary continues to import cheap oil from Russia even as most EU members have cut off trade with Moscow. This partnership is the centerpiece of state propaganda. Every electricity bill consumers receive is highlighted in bright red how much money the government’s “tariff reduction” program has saved them, the media says.
The anti-Tisza agenda also distracts attention from factors that have helped the Tisza party in the polls: weak economic growth, high inflation and recent scandals that have undermined Orban’s support.
‘Bloomberg: Orban Is heading for open conflict with EU and Ukraine. For the sake of the election.’
If this is true, Dear Peter, that Orban’s opposition to the The Western Elite’s Kremlin regime-change war in Western Russia, then why was the Hungarian prime minister opposing this war in 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022?
Also, why do you believe anything Bloomberg says about this war?
Who is the head of the Russian central bank? Did you at least learn that?
Your post: Incoherent nonsense! There’s no way to respond to that.
By the way, where’s your other personality, Mark? I haven’t heard from him for a long time.
Okay, Dear Peter, in a microcosm we have the reason why The Western Elite is at war with Russia and Hungary – because anyone who disagrees with the current direction of The Western Elite is automatically incoherent and nonsensical.
As to Bloomberg : I sincerely asked why you still believe them?
Why do I ask this?
Because they, Bloomberg, have, since 2022, repeatedly reported that Russia’s economy is cracking, the Russian military is neanderthal, and that Russian soldiers, being used in senseless human wave attacks, are out of ammunition.
And yet NATO’s lines in Western Russia, as of this writing, are cracking.
And yet you believe Bloomberg, quote them, and skirt any questions about their commitments to veracity.
Where are your sources that substantiate your claims? Where did Bloomberg write exactly that, not just something approximate and then creatively expanded upon by you?
Exaggerations and unproven claims are a frequent stylistic device you use to mislead others. Your intention is to shift the discussion towards the emotional, away from the facts. The discussion is to be reduced to a level that doesn’t demand any substantive content, which you cannot meet and which suits your limited intellectual capacity. A discussion where hypocrisy, insinuations, unproven claims, frequent topic changes, factual distortions, and emotional manipulation count.
At the same time, you then present yourselves as two different people. One person is responsible for insults, rudeness, and intimidation of other readers, while the other person is more moderate in tone and praises the other person for their knowledge. However, you haven’t always been able to maintain this approach when you’re emotionally agitated. It’s very transparent if you’re familiar with the topic.
Many Russian sources also report that the Russian economy is in dire straits, something they should already know if they had actually read my posts here. Even Putin, more or less reluctantly, indirectly admits this. But of course, you know better than the Russian experts.
Perhaps it’s also due to comprehension problems on your part, Mr. Mark, because that’s what you are, even if you’re trying to give a different impression here. I haven’t heard from Mark in a long time; perhaps you’ll post something under his name again sometime. But one thing is clear: no one here can help you fill in the gaps in your knowledge. Because these gaps are fundamental, as you recently demonstrated with the head of the Russian Central Bank, whom you referred to as the Finance Minister.
The very term “Neanderthal” shows that it could only have originated from your limited vocabulary. Bloomberg would never write something like that. This is a level of discourse only people with nothing of substance resort to. You simply want to shift the discussion to an emotional level to distract from your lack of substance. This is an attempt to switch to a form of propaganda, albeit the dumbest kind. Intelligent propaganda exists, but they haven’t mastered it.
Read Larry’s posts here about the situation in the Russian military. UN reports are also full of it; even the International Criminal Court in The Hague is conducting mass investigations into human rights violations by the Russian military.
You also write, “and yet, NATO lines in western Russia are currently showing cracks.” Since when has NATO been in western Russia? Can you actually write anything other than nonsense and spread Russian propaganda of the lowest order?
All in all, contacting you is just a waste of time.
💯
It fits more into the category of election than Ukraine.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent an “open letter” to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and accused Kiev of “influencing the upcoming elections.”
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Twitter feed.
“For four years you have been working to force Hungary into a war between your country and Russia. During this time, you have received the support of Brussels and gained the support of the Hungarian opposition,” Orban said.
He said Ukraine, Brussels and the Hungarian opposition are allegedly coordinating efforts to bring a pro-Ukrainian government to power in Hungary.
“In recent days, you have blocked the Druzhba oil pipeline, which is crucial for Hungary’s energy supply. Your actions are against Hungary’s interests and jeopardize the safe and affordable energy supply for Hungarian families,” he added.
The Hungarian prime minister also called on Ukraine to change its “anti-Hungarian policy.” He also added that he was allegedly not responsible for the situation Ukraine finds itself in.
“We sympathize with the Ukrainian people, but we do not wish to participate in the war. We do not want to finance the war effort and we do not want to pay more for energy,” Orban added. What’s strange about this statement is that he classifies Ukraine as an enemy in its entirety.
To summarize, he also called for “opening the Druzhba oil pipeline” and refraining from “further attacks on Hungary’s energy security.”
Russia may use the risk of a radiological incident on the territory of Ukraine for information manipulation and attempts to discredit Kiev.
Moscow is escalating nuclear threats against Western countries discussing security guarantees for Ukraine. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts note that Russian officials are using statements by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service to escalate rhetoric regarding the possible use of nuclear weapons.
In particular, threats have been made against Britain and France, the countries leading the so-called “Coalition of the willing” talks on security guarantees for postwar Ukraine.
That would give a huge boost to Orban’s dirty election campaign.
In ISW’s assessment, the Kremlin is trying to:
– sow fear of escalation between nuclear powers;
– discourage European countries from providing guarantees to Ukraine;
– get the United States to limit support for these initiatives.
Kremlin may be preparing an information operation
The ISW analysts suggest that Russia may try to use a possible radiological incident for its own information purposes.
According to experts, Moscow could:
– cause or allow a radiological event on Ukrainian territory;
– afterwards accuse Ukraine of using nuclear or radiological weapons.
The purpose of such actions could be to try to weaken Western support for Ukraine and affect the morale of Ukrainian society.
The report notes that Russian forces regularly attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, including nuclear-related facilities. These strikes could pose a risk of radiological incidents, both intentional and accidental.
‘Russia may use the risk of a radiological incident on the territory of Ukraine for information manipulation and attempts to discredit Kiev.’
Yes, Dear Peter, just as Osama Bin Laden blew up the Twin Towers and Sadam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.
‘According to experts, Moscow could: …’
Yes, Dear Peter : ‘The experts’ are expert at prevarication and subterfuge.
On behalf of Mark:
Yes Mouton, you’re right. I admire your knowledge and intelligence. You are our beacon of light in these uncertain times.
Jews own and operate the media! Their subversive little polls told the same lies about a Biden/Kamala win during both Trump elections!!! “All jews are liars until proven innocent!” (Napoleon Bonaparte, 1832)
I just wanted to remind everyone that Napoleon has been dead for over 200 years. In between, there were mass expulsions and mass killings of Jews, as well as two world wars. Perhaps something will still be found from the cultural sphere of Mesopotamia. There were Jews there even back then.
And you see how jews and jewish commies push their own agenda during an election when all you see is posters of females, including one particular female jew pasted and hung all over Judapest! Females destroy Nations, and should not be in any position of power anywhere in the West! That is the very reason why kikes like them so much! Disgusting and despicable!
Let’s assume it’s true! What’s your recommendation? Concentration camps?
Johnny, I can’t help it, but you sound like Mark. Are you the new Mark, or do you two perhaps know each other? 🙂
“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz–KDNP alliance is steadily leading less than two months before the upcoming parliamentary election, according to a recently published survey by the Nézőpont Institute.
According to the data, published on 25 February, if the election were held this Sunday, the governing parties’ list would receive 45 per cent of the vote, while the main opposition party, Tisza, would secure 40 per cent.
Hungarian opposition pollsters have a track record of significant inaccuracies, often underpolling Fidesz while overstating support for its challengers. Publicus, for example, missed the outcome of the 2022 parliamentary election by 20 percentage points. Medián itself underestimated Fidesz by 7 points in its final pre-election survey, while Orbán’s party ultimately secured a 20-point victory, winning 54.1 per cent against 34.1 per cent for the united opposition.” Quote from Hungarianconservative
Whether change is better or worse remains to be seen.
One thing is certain, in my opinion: if someone grows from almost nothing into one of the largest political parties in such a short time, you can be almost certain it’s not because of their own doing.
In English, they have a nice word for this: “pole turtle.” Everyone almost certainly knows that a turtle can never climb a pole on its own.
The animal gets there by the fact that someone puts it there.
Best of luck to all the participants in the elections, and may the “best” win.
Which poll and funded by whom?? As the world has witnessed over and over again, many so called “experts” are paid to push a specific result … including pollsters. Follow the $$$ and question everything.
