Weather in Hungary: Snow, fog, and double front

Hungary is facing several days of dull, wintry weather as a swirling cyclone above the country triggers a so-called “double front” effect, meaning cold and warm fronts will influence conditions at the same time.

According to meteorologists, this unstable setup is expected to dominate the weather in Hungary for the weekend and the start of next week, bringing clouds, fog, snow and mixed precipitation to many parts of the country.

Saturday will be largely overcast and gloomy, with persistent cloud cover and locally misty or foggy conditions. Precipitation is expected in many regions, falling as snow, sleet or rain depending on local temperatures.

While the heaviest snowfall is likely in hilly and mountainous areas, even low-lying regions could see a thin layer of snow. However, any snow cover is unlikely to last long, as temperatures remain marginally above freezing in several areas.

Daytime temperatures on Saturday will generally range between 1 and 6 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate northeasterly winds. Weather-sensitive people may experience headaches, migraines or blood pressure issues due to the combined cold and warm front effects, experts warn.
