(MTI) – Apart from major religious celebrations, Hungary will celebrate Easter with many programmes in the capital, in open air museums, and towns and villages nationwide.
The biggest traditional Easter event, the third Easter Merriment will be held in Budapest’s Buda Castle on April 19-21. The event will offer arts&crafts and folk fairs, gastronomic delights and folk craft workshops. Children will be treated to egg hunts and baskets full of Easter goodies. The three-day event will also feature folk bands, folk dance, world music and children’s concerts on the main stage.
In the Vajdahunyad Castle in City Park an Easter Lamb Festival will await guests with a livestock show, a Hungarian and international lamb meals cooking contest, an arts&crafts fair and folk games.
Open air museums at Szentendre near Budapest and at Szenna in southwest Hungary will host colourful programmes featuring the Easter traditions of water spraying and egg painting, as well as folk games and preparing Easter specialties.
