Space technology manufacturing center to be built in Hungary

Listed 4iG group and space engineering company REMRED topped out a space technology manufacturing centre in Martonvásár, on the outskirts of Budapest, on Monday.
István Sárhegyi, REMRED co-founder and CEO of 4iG’s space and defence business, said satellites would be manufactured and tested in Martonvásár with international cooperation. He added that
more than 130 technicians and space engineers are already working on developing, manufacturing, and testing satellites.
The centre, dubbed REMTECH, will boost Hungary’s satellite production capacity, National Economy Minister Márton Nagy said at the ceremony. Strengthening that capacity is no longer a simple matter of economy, but increasingly a matter of security and sovereignty, he added.
Nagy said Hungary aimed to launch a new satellite early in 2027. He added that the government had called tenders for EUR 3.5m in funding to support local companies’ satellite projects in 2025.
The centre, which will be built at a cost of more than HUF 10bn, will be able to produce satellites up to 400kg. The greenfield investment will be equipped with innovative and state-of-the-art technology solutions in line with aerospace industry standards, and the plant will be powered by a stand-alone solar farm after the handover. The 4,000 square metre technology centre will include a 1,500 square metre dedicated laboratory with ISO8 and ISO5 certified clean room technology. The facility will also house systems for vibration, shock, mechanical, thermo-vacuum, climatic, EMC/EMI, and acoustic testing.
According to 4iG, the aerospace manufacturing centre, which is expected to meet the needs of both the domestic and international markets, will not only be a prominent base for satellite technology and the space industry. The unique investment will create an innovation centre that will not only be a hub for international cooperation but also for the domestic knowledge industry, with a number of links to education and R&D activities.
