Shopping changes: do not go to these Hungarian shops on 24 December

Here is the list of the retail chains that announced to remain closed on the day of Christmas Eve in Hungary.

According to Blikk, Penny and Lidl announced they would remain closed on 24 December. Furthermore, Spar shops will also be closed except for their stores in the malls. The same will be true for Rossmann. Jysk and Diego shops will also be closed. However, before 24 December, most of these chains will remain open longer than usual.

The leadership of Penny decided to keep their shops closed between 24 and 26 December granting a three-day long holiday for all their employees. However, the chain will be open until 10 PM on 22 and 23 December. From 27 December, they will operate following their ordinary schedule. Penny has 230 stores in Hungary and employs 5,000 people.

Lidl Hungary announced that all their 200 stores would remain closed on 24 December. They referred to the importance of families in their statement. But they will remain open longer on 23 December.

Spar said that their stores will remain closed on 24 December except for Interspar stores and shops, Spar and CITY Spars operating in the malls. The latter will be open until noon on the 24th, but employees working there will get double their salary. Franchise partners like OMV-Spar and Orlen-Despar stores could decide about their opening times.
