We knew Brentford would be without their talisman Ivan Toney for the first half of the 2023-24 Premier League season, as the England international is currently serving a ban for breaching the Football Association’s betting rules.
The general consensus was that the Bees would be able to cope without the 27-year-old forward leading the line. However, Thomas Frank’s men have been subpar and are deep in the bottom half of the table after the first nine games of the season.
A 3-0 win over Burnley last weekend was crucial, but Brentford have a very difficult run of games coming up.
It starts with a trip to Chelsea on Saturday and continues throughout November, as they host cross-city rivals West Ham United and Arsenal at the Brentford Community Stadium, either side of facing Liverpool at Anfield.
That said, let’s take a look at the Bees’ upcoming games and assess their chances of picking up crucial points.
Chelsea – Stamford Bridge – October 28
Frank’s men are the massive underdogs ahead of this tie if you’re looking for a Chelsea v Brentford bet, but the Bees have a very good record on their recent travels to Stamford Bridge.
They stunned Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea with a 4-1 win at the Bridge back in April 2022, which was their first season back in the top flight for 74 years, and a 2-0 win here back in April marked a fifth consecutive defeat at home for Frank Lampard’s men.
Chelsea appear to be over the worst of their bad start to the season, however, with three wins in a row before the recent international break and a draw against Arsenal last weekend.
Comparing the form, it’s a struggle to see how Brentford are going to get anything from this game.
West Ham United – Brentford Community Stadium – November 4
