Hungarian star journalist expelled from Golden Globe

Change language:

The company behind organising the Golden Globe Awards ceremony fired Anikó Návai, a Hungarian star journalist. The reason was Ms Návai’s fake interview she ‘made’ with Scarlett Johansson back in 2021.

According to Blikk, a Hungarian tabloid, Ms Návai was fired because of violating the company’s code of conduct. She was not the only one who was expelled. Howaida Hamdy and Munawar Hosain were also sacked because of the same reasons.

“According to sources, the three have been expelled for violating the organisation’s code of conduct following investigations into complaints about their behaviour”, Deadline, a movie industry magazine, said.

Golden Globe said goodbye to Egyptian journalist and critic Hamdy due to alleged extremist and anti-Semitic remarks she made in some of her reviews and tweets. Munawar Hosain is a Bangladeshi-born journalist who worked for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), just like the Hungarian Anikó Návai. The news outlet did not specify why the two were sent away.
