THE ranking: Hungarian university among the world’s best

Change language:

THE (Times Higher Education) has shared its latest higher education ranking. They ranked only the “new” institutions, i.e. founded a maximum of 50 years ago. One of the Hungarian universities reached a prestigious position on the list.

THE’s Young University Rankings considered the same criteria as in the case of the general list. The only difference is that the emphasis on reputation was smaller since the new universities did not have enough time to develop that compared to their hundred-years-old competitors in the education market.

According to eduline.hu, the universities were ranked based on their education, research, knowledge transfer, and international role. In this year’s top list, there are 605 institutions. One is Hungarian, the University of Óbuda, between the 351-400th place. The institution was created in 2010.

Furthermore, as we wrote HERE, they will not be able to receive Erasmus and Horizon funds because of a debate between the European Commission and the Hungarian government. The Commission wants changes in the relevant laws. The Hungarian government sent a draft about the planned modifications, but the Commission highlighted they could analyse only laws. As a result, for example, the University of Óbuda will not be able to participate in the Erasmus and Horizon programs from September, provided there is not a quick agreement between Brussels and Budapest.
