Important: Public transport changes in Budapest during the long weekend

Budapest traffic will change over the Easter long weekend. Here’s what you need to know if you plan to travel by public transport over the next few days.

Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) services will operate on Saturday, public holiday and school holiday schedules during the Easter holidays. The exception will be the M3 metro line, which will operate on a regular schedule on all four days of the long weekend, napi.hu reports.

Timetables for public transport services

Services will run according to the following timetables over the Easter long weekend:

  • on Thursday 6 April, the Friday working day during the school holidays will apply;
  • on Friday 7 April, the timetable for public holidays and bank holidays (ünnepnapok és munkaszüneti napok) will apply;
  • on Saturday 8 April, the Saturday timetable will apply;
  • on 9 and 10 April, Sunday and Monday, the timetable for public holidays and bank holidays (ünnepnapok és munkaszüneti napok) will apply;
  • on Tuesday 11 April, the timetable will be the same as on school holidays.
